BOMBERS SIGNING FRENZY

Timothy Flanders signs with Kansas State, as well as seven other Bombers

The expectations were nothing but less than a state championship this year for the Bombers of Midwest City. Though once again, their dream season was upended in week thirteen of the 6A playoffs by the Tulsa Union Redskins, who were eventual 6A State Champions. For the Bomber Football team, unfinished business is once again said for next year, except for eight of the Bombers seniors who have signed letters of intent to play football at the college level.

There were no doubts on peoples mind that running back Timothy Flanders would sign to play college football. Everyone just did not know where. “For weeks I have said that Tulsa will be the school I choose,” said Timothy Flanders. “But as the recruiting season came close to ending, other options were made to me, especially for me to play running back. Kansas State has been on me about it and I feel that’s where I need to be. Timothy Flanders signed with Kansas State yesterday to play running back for the wildcats in an offense that is very similar to the one that Midwest City runs. “This whole year, I was saying that Oklahoma State was the team I wanted to play for, but they recruited me as a db. Then they went and recruited another running back.”Reasons why Oklahoma State did not recruit Timothy as a running back was, yes the Cowboys were stacked with Kendall Hunter, Keith Tosten and incoming freshmen Jeremy Smith, but because of Flanders being 5 foot 9 and 141 pounds, was another issue. “Coach Joe Bob Clements recruited me very hard in the last few weeks and it was a decision that was fully based on me on where I would fit in a lot better. Plus I am in an elite conference with the B.C.S. schools.” Timothy has a 355 pound bench max, a 475 pound squat max, a 4.4 second forty and a G.P.A. of 3.8.

Wide Receiver, Kevin Gaddis also signed a FBS scholarship to play at the University of Rice. “First, I was looking to stay in state for a while until Rice started to recruit me in the middle of the season”, said Gaddis. “I eventually decided to take a better road and sign with Rice. It was a decision on what was best for me in the moment of time.” As well, Antonio Brown, who highly stated as one of the most underrated players in the state, signed with Missouri State University. “Last year, a few of my good friends signed with them and they have always been on me since last season”, said Brown. “They basically said that they wanted me there and never gave up on me through the season. It was where I bought into them helping myself reach a better level through them. I stated yes. What can Brown do for you?”

Others that signed were offensive tackle, Tevin Dixon to Northeastern Oklahoma, offensive guard, Richard Gorniak to Baker University, defensive end Sean Berry to Langston University and athlete Kerry Wallace to the University of Central Oklahoma.

5th year senior Kameron Stewart signed with junior college powerhouse Coffeyville University. “This year it has been really hard for me to take a hold of everything that has happened to me,” said Stewart “With my season ending injury in the middle of the season to myself and my school work. It has been mistakes I have taken full responsibility in. Hopefully, I am somewhere back in state at either OU or OSU in two years.”
